Ice Age will be hosting two informal training runs on the IAT 50 course on Saturday, April 19 and Saturday, April 26. Everyone is invited, whether or not they are registered for this year’s race.
The first training run will include a Nordic Loop (9 miles) and an out-and-back on the southern end of the course to Rice Lake. The total distance is 35 miles, although you don’t have to complete the entire distance. The race director will be on site that day to offer ideas for shorter routes.
The second training run is an out-and-back to the Emma Carlin parking area (19 miles). The course includes roughly 2.5 total miles on the Nordic Loop and 17.5 single track miles on the Ice Age Trail.
Both training runs commence at 7:30 a.m.
Self-serve aid stations will be set up at Hwy 12 on April 19 (18 & 26 miles) and at Horseriders Camp (roughly miles 6.5 and 12.5). Water, Heed and snacks will be available at the aid stations.
You will need a state pass to park in the Nordic lot (the start and end location of both runs). Passes can no longer be purchased at the entry, unless DNR staff is on-site. We highly recommend purchasing annual passes at the Wisconsin DNR website.
Ice Age training runs are an excellent opportunity to spend time on the trails and meet your fellow Ice Agers. Hope to see you there!!
