2024 Training Run Schedule

The Ice Age Trail 50 will host two informal training runs on the race course on Saturday, April 20 and Saturday, April 27. Both runs will start and end at the Nordic trailhead (the start and finish of the IAT 50).

The first run will include a loop of the Nordic Trail and an out-and-back to Rice Lake (35 miles). The April 27 run will be an out-and-back to the Emma Carlin parking lot (19 miles).

The training runs are open to everyone, whether or not they are running the IAT 50 — and runners do not need to cover the entire distance. For ideas on shorter routes, please contact the RD at iceage50rd@gmail.com or connect with the training run organizers the morning of the run. Jeff Fleitz will be leading the April 20 run and Nicole Diedrick on April 27.

Water, Heed and assorted snacks will be available at Hwy 12 (miles 18 & 26) on April 20. An aid table will be set up at Horseriders Camp the following Saturday (miles 6.5 and 12.5).

All participants will need a Wisconsin State Park Pass to park at the Nordic trailhead. Please bring cash. The ranger’s station may not be staffed. Daily passes are $8 ($11 for outstate visitors).

The training runs are a great opportunity to spend time on the trails — and to meet fellow Ice Agers. We hope to see you there!
